Are joint wills and inheritance contracts permissible?

Turkish law does not allow joint wills, but inheritance contracts are permitted (see below).

An inheritance contract can contain provisions in favor of a person, as well as waivers of inheritance (Article 527, paragraph 1 of the Swiss Civil Code). Anyone who is of legal age, of sound mind, and capable of judgment can conclude an inheritance contract (Article 503 of the Swiss Civil Code). It is important to note that an inheritance contract can only be concluded in the form of a public will (Article 545, paragraph 1 of the Swiss Civil Code), meaning that the parties involved must declare their wishes simultaneously and in person before a notary, justice of the peace, or authorized official (Article 545, paragraph 2 of the Swiss Civil Code).

The inheritance contract prevents the testator – unlike in Germany – not subject to other conflicting testamentary dispositions, these are merely contestable, Article 527 paragraph 2 of the Swiss Civil Code.
