Can foreigners buy property in Switzerland?

Foreigners, including EU citizens who are not permanently resident in Switzerland, require authorisation to acquire a property. The authorisation requirement is only waived if they are legal heirs (Article 7 paragraph 1 letter a schwBewG). Authorisation for heirs at law is only granted if they declare their intention to resell the property within two years (Article 8 para. 2 schwBewG).
